| 23 November 2004 | VFAT File Concatenation Without Data Copy |
| Embedded devices that record audio and video often do so by saving them as separate streams then combining them after the recording phase completes. When using the Linux VFAT file system, the combining process typically requires the data to be read from the storage media and then written back to the storage media. Cadenux added an application level mechanism which allow the data in one file to be concatenated to the end of the data stored in another file by manipulating the FAT entries. Depending on file system and the storage media being used, this can provide a significant performance advantage. | |
| 26 October 2004 | VFAT File System Performance Improvements |
| By modifying the mkfs.msdos utility, a FAT file format can be created with boundaries that follows the 4096 Linux page size. Changes to the Linux VFAT file system recognize when a FAT file format meets the alignment requirements, then uses 4096 byte block accesses instead of the normal 512 byte block accesses. This change gives approximately a 6 times performance improvement (measured using a Secure Digital storage media). The FAT file format is compatible with Windows. | |
| 15 October 2004 | Secure Digital Block Driver Write Queue |
| The Secure Digital Block Driver was enhanced with a write queue capable of reordering write requests so that small (512 byte) writes can be combined to allow the multi-block SD command to be used. By coalescing the write requests, a significant performance data write improvement was measured. | |

| Cadenux, LLC has developed a new user utility to support execution of kernel modules in processor internal memory (IRAM). This utility is very similar to the standard insmod utility and is called irammod. irammod is included with every Cadenux ARM7 board support package. IRAM memory has very low access time. Execution of time critical kernel modules from IRAM can lead to improved system performance. Contact Cadenux at info@cadenux.com for further information. | |

| 21 April 2003 | Cadenux TMS320DM270 Board Support Package |
| Cadenux has released the TI TMS320DM270 Board Support Package (BSP) for the TI DM270 EVM. The BSP includes GNU toolchain, rrload bootloader, uClinux 2.4 kernel, and common utilities to run on the ARM7 including Busybox, Userland inetutils, BOA web server, and examples. Drivers include serial, CS8900a Ethernet, C54 DSP control driver, GIO, and watchdog timer. Compact Flash is also supported along with the ROMFS, RAMFS, and VFAT file systems. For further information contact info@cadenux.com. | |
| 25 March 2003 | DSP Control Driver for the C5471 BSP |
| A DSP control driver has been added to the C5471 BSP. This driver is functionally equivalent to the DSC25 BSP's DSP control driver: Its supports loading of DSP programs and manages a framework for custom interprocessor communications. The heart of the C5471's DSP control driver, however, is a DSP monitor program that executes in the c54 DSP. This monitor manages accesses to both program and and data spaces and extends the C5471 addressability outside the limits of the c5471's API window. For more information, contact info@cadenux.com. | |
| 24 March 2003 | GIO Driver for the C5471 BSP |
| A driver for the General Purpose I/O (GIO) has been added to the C5471 BSP. This GIO driver is very similar to GIO driver already available for the DSC2x BSPs: It provides ioctl() calls to control the GIO behavior and a read() call to receive interrupt notifications. | |
| 9 March 2003 | BOA Web Server |
| The BOA Web server is now integrated with the Cadenux BSP and ships with every uClinux-2.4 and uClinux-2.0 basic board support package. | |
| 28 February 2003 | JFFS/JFFS2 Support for the c5471 BSP |
| JFFS/JFFS2 FLASH file systems using the MTD block driver has been extended to support the c5471. This is challenging because the FLASH memory contains the c5471's interrupt vectors and special logic had to be included to protect the system when the FLASH is in a non-readable state. At present only support for the AMD FLASH family has been fully integrated. | |
| 23 January 2003 | Cadenux purchases RidgeRun ARM7 technology |
|
Cadenux has purchased the RidgeRun intellectual property rights to all RidgeRun ARM7 technology including C547x, DSC21, and DSC24 BSPs, ARM7 MicroBridge, ARM7 TaskBridge, and the appliance simulator. The OMAP710 BSP was also purchased, along with the DSPLinux.net domain name and the DSPLinux product name. |
| 17 January 2003 | JFFS/JFFS2 Support for the DSC25 2.4 BSP |
| JFFS/JFFS2 FLASH file systems using the MTD block driver have been integrated in the uClinux 2.4 BSP for the TMS320DSC25 on the AmRoad EVM. | |
| 15 January 2003 | Compressed Kernel Support |
| The rrload bootloader has been extended to support storage of a compressed Linux kernel in FLASH. rrload will decompress this kernel and transfer it to SDRAM at boot time. This greatly reduces FLASH storage requirements (at the expense of increased boot time). | |
| 11 January 2003 | Memory Configuration Tool |
| A new configuration tool has been added to the Cadenux BSP to simplify the job of maintaining multiple BSP configurations. See here for details. | |
| 15 December 2002 | Shared Library Support with Threads |
| The XFLAT shared library support has been extended to work with multi-threaded, pthread, applications. | |
| 18 November 2002 | DSC25 Framebuffer Driver for the TMS320DSC25 |
| A framebuffer driver has been developed for the TMS320DSC25. The framebuffer driver provides OS support for the video interface needed by GUIs. | |
